Work from the first two Book Project workshops- Playing with abstracting imagined and researched shapes from passages of my text. The Joan Didion essay I was working from was heavily rooted in the Californian landscape so I aimed to capture the 'Wailing trees' as Redwood trees (native to California).
I also attempted to turn the tree into a deified figure since my text passage was portraying a storm as an act of God.

I have been enjoying simplifying passages into shapes- in some images trying to convey temperature through colour. - I have recently been looking at Kurt Vonnegut & Ivan Chermayeff's 'Sun Moon Star' and would like to abstract shapes and play with the mood of the colours further.
